UEW Matriculates 9,033 Regular Freshmen
The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) on Thursday, 31st March, 2022, held a matriculation ceremony for 9,033 regular freshmen and women at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, North Campus, Winneba.
Held in a semi-virtual mode for the matriculants, the ceremony was attended by members of convocation and class representatives. The event bestowed on matriculants all rights and privileges recognised by the University as well as an obligation on the University Management, to seek the welfare of its valued students.
SITUATE Research Team Engages Local Stakeholders on Project Findings

UEW Council Meets Students Involved in Accident
The Governing Council of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has met with students who were involved in an accident at Asuboi, a suburb of Suhum on the Accra-Kumasi Highway.
The meeting, which took place at the Council Chamber of UEW on Thursday, 17th March, 2022, was purposed for the Council to apprise itself of the state of affairs after the accident and to observe firsthand how the surviving students were faring.

UEW SRC Donates to Students Involved in Asuboi Accident
The Student Representative Council (SRC), University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has donated food items to 23 students who survived the vehicular accident at Asuboi on Sunday, 13th March, 2022, and have returned to campus to resume their studies.
Each student received a ten-kilograms bag of rice, two tins of milo, five tins of milk, one cup of sugar, and one crate of eggs. This is the SRC’s initial relief package to address the basic needs of the affected students while on campus receiving full treatment and studying.
UEW Gender Mainstreaming Directorate Celebrates Womanhood
The Gender Mainstreaming Directorate, University of Education, Winneba (UEW) in conjunction with the Ghana Education Service (GES), Effutu Municipality, has reached out to women at the heart of fisheries in Winneba to celebrate and recognise their achievements towards social change.
The programme, held at the Nana Kwabena Gyan Community Centre at Sekagyaano, a suburb of Winneba, was part of the activities to mark the 2022 International Women’s Day. It was under the theme “Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow – Breaking the Biases”.

UEW Faculty of Foreign Languages Education Organises Mentorship Training for Staff
The Faculty of Foreign Languages Education (FFLE), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has organised a one-day mentorship workshop for its academic and administrative staff at the School of Creative Arts Conference Room, Central Campus, Winneba.
The workshop, which took place on Friday, 11th March, 2022, was under the theme “Faculty Mentorship: A Prerequisite for Faculty Development towards the Achievement of UEW’s Corporate Staff Development Objectives”.
Lecturers from the Department of Geography Education Win Two Research Grants
Lecturers from the Department of Geography Education, University of Education, Winneba (UEW), have been awarded two different research grants to conduct research related to environmental sanitation in Ghana.
The grants are to be used to carry out spatial-enabled sustainable solid waste management system as well as a study on the viability and environmental implications of plastic waste buy-back schemes in Ghana.
