We Shall Consciously Uphold the Provisions of the UEW Statutes to Promote Fairness – Vice-Chancellor Pledges
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mawutor Avoke, has pledged management’s commitment to consciously upholding the provisions of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) Statutes to promote fairness and equity in the University.
He emphasised his conviction that the University must harness and manage all of its potential and resources for the common benefit of all by bringing all members of the community on board, asking all stakeholders to work together to advance the University.
2021/2022 Fresh Visually Impaired Students of UEW Undergo Orientation at Braille Library
The University of Education, Winneba's (UEW) Braille Library, North Campus, Winneba, hosted an orientation for fresh visually impaired students for the 2021/2022 academic year.
The students were exposed to how to access the diverse equipment at the Braille Library to improve their studies and stay relevant at the University.
UEW and Sabre Education Equip Effutu and Gomoa Kindergarten Teachers for Curriculum Delivery
The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) and Sabre Education, Ghana have organised a capacity building training for kindergarten teachers in the Effutu Municipality and the Gomoa Central District to take stock of kindergarten education in Ghana.
The event also witnessed the official launch of the UEW and Sabre partnership. It offered an opportunity for participants to brainstorm methods to improve kindergarten curriculum delivery. Kindergarten curriculum delivery and teacher competency delivery were highlighted at the capacity-building session.
Winner of “Sawie” Branding and Package Design Competition Receives Cash Prize
A final year student of the Department of Graphic Design, University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Mr. George Assiful, has been presented with an undisclosed amount of cash award and a certificate for winning the 2021 “Sawie” Branding and Package Design competition.
Mr. Assiful beat competition from 32 other students from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Takoradi Technical University (TTU), and UEW in the final to clinch the ultimate prize. A total of 94 students competed in the preliminary round of the competition.
UEW Formalises Mentorship Agreement with Savanna College of Education
The Management of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) on Tuesday, 12th April, 2022, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Savanna College of Education, Daboya, at the Council Chamber, North Campus, UEW.
The signing of the MoU formalises the collaborative arrangements between the two institutions to roll out a four-year Basic Education degree programme with options in Early Grade Education, Upper Primary Education, and Junior High Education.
Simpa Hall Hauls Nine Trophies at Annual Inter-Hall Games
The Custodians of Simpa Hall have swept nine trophies out of a possible 12 at the just-ended annual inter-hall games held at the North Campus Sports Complex, University of Education, Winneba (UEW).
The Hall, named after the Winneba Township Simpa, won both men's and women's volleyball and basketball, women's soccer, women's table tennis, men's handball, men's goalball, and women's netball.
In accordance with custom, the Sports Chairman for Simpa Hall, Mr. Ibrahim Iddrisu, on Wednesday, 6th April, 2022, presented the trophies to the Management of the Hall.
UEW COLANG Holds Public Lecture on Tuberculosis
To commemorate the 2022 World Tuberculosis Day, the College of Languages Education (COLANG), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has organised a public lecture as well as tuberculosis (TB) screening and counseling for patrons in Ajumako and its environs.
The events, held on the global theme “Invest to End TB. Save Lives”, took place at the Ajumako Campus Assembly Hall and the COLANG Clinic.
The College Medical Officer, Dr. George W. B. Bonsu, in his purpose for the public lecture, underscored the need to create awareness of TB to save more lives.
UEW Alumna Appointed NASAAG General Secretary
Ms. Abigail Ayamba, an alumna of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has been appointed General Secretary for the Board of Trustees and the Executive Board of Directors of the National Academy of Students’ Achievement Awards Ghana (NASAAG).
She earned this feat on the back of her consistent engagements with students and unwavering passion for youth empowerment advocacy, particularly in the space of women empowerment and gender inclusion, and her contribution to social development, ethics, and morality among students and youth in Ghana.
Department of Journalism and Media Studies Hosts Chief Operating Officer of Multimedia Group
The Department of Journalism and Media Studies, School of Communication and Media Studies (SCMS), University of Education, Winneba (UEW) on Wednesday 30th March, 2022, hosted Mr. Ken Ansah, Chief Operating Officer of Multimedia Group Limited for its seminar series.
The seminar organised for graduate students in the Department of Journalism and Media Studies took place in the conference room of the SCMS. It was under the theme “Financial Management of Media Organisations”.
UEW Libraries Offer Online Access to Over 40,000 Articles – Vice-Chancellor
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Prof. Mawutor Avoke, has disclosed that the University libraries are well-stocked with a variety of resources for study and reference, including books and online publications.
He affirmed that the libraries collectively hold tens of thousands of books, and periodicals as well as offer online access to over 40,000 articles, databases and catalogues from around the world.
