The Deputy Minister of Education, Hon. John Ntim Fordjour, has lauded the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), for playing significant roles in the area of developing educational policy frameworks and training teachers in Ghana.

He emphasised the Government's willingness to assist UEW and other higher education institutions in carrying out their mandates by improving facilities to accommodate the large number of applicants who would be knocking on their doors for admission.

The Chairman of the Governing Council, University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Nana Ofori Ansah I, has said that UEW has continued to excel in providing quality education in Ghana and beyond to fulfil its role as a Centre of Excellence for Teacher Education.  

He stated that the University recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ghana Armed Forces to establish a Study Centre at the Ghana Military Academy and Training School, Accra-Teshie, to train military officers for their professional and personal growth.

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has introduced 62 new academic programmes in fulfilment of its vision to expand the institution and to meet various professional interests and areas of specialisation with the demands of the contemporary global environment in focus.

The Centre for Conflict, Human Rights and Peace Studies (CHRAPS) of the Faculty of Social Sciences Education has undergone a three-day retreat at the Elmina Beach Resort, Elmina in the Central Region of Ghana, from Wednesday, 8th to Friday, 10th December, 2021.

The Faculty of Foreign Languages Education and the School of Communication and Media Studies (SCMS), University of Education, Winneba, have embarked on a three-day annual retreat at the Royal Lee’s Hotel, Tutu-Akuapim in the Eastern region of Ghana.

The retreat, which was under the theme “Honing your research skills”, sought to equip staff, assist them to sharpen their research skills, share ideas and become well-versed in research techniques.

The Office for Institutional Advancement/Alumni Relations (OIA), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has briefed all candidates or their appointed representatives on preparations for the Alumni Congress and Executive elections scheduled for Saturday, 11th December, 2021, at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, UEW.  

The Directorate of Amalgamated Sports Clubs of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has embarked on a five-day retreat at the Royal Lee’s Hotel, Tutu-Aburi in the Eastern Region of Ghana, from Thursday, 2nd to Sunday, 5th December, 2021.

The five-day retreat was under the theme: “Charting a New Era of Sports and Recreation in UEW”.

The Centre for African Studies (CAS), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has embarked on an academic retreat to review the Liberal and African Studies courses and design a Master of Arts (MA) and a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) programmes in African Studies.  

National Service Personnel (NSP) posted to the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) for 2021/2022, have expressed the enthusiasm at undergoing orientation to aid them to familiarise themselves with the ethics, corporate structures and principles of the University. 

The Head, Department of Political Science Education (DPSE), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Mrs. Anitha Oforiwah Adu-Boahen, has disclosed the Department’s intention to roll out a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme in Political Science to add to its postgraduate programmes.  

Mrs. Anitha Adu-Boahen also revealed that her Department with the Department of History Education (DHE) had come of age and was thus, in the process of upgrading to the status of a School at UEW.
