ITECPD Sharpens Expertise of Affiliate Colleges of Education Tutors
The Institute for Teacher Education and Continuing Professional Development (ITECPD), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has organised a five-day workshop on test item construction for tutors of affiliated Colleges of Education (CoE).
The tutors were guided to construct test items for level 200 semester two courses in alignment with relevant policies such as the National Teacher Standards (NTS), the National Teacher Education Curriculum Framework (NTECF), the National Teacher Education Assessment Policy (NTEAP), and Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI).
HR Urges Security Personnel to Build Healthy Communication Relationships
The Division of Human Resource (HR) has urged security personnel in the University of Education Winneba (UEW) to establish healthy communication relationships with staff, students and other stakeholders of the University.
The admonition came at a weeklong training workshop organised by HR from Monday, 5th to Friday, 9th July, 2021, at the North Assembly Hall, Winneba Campus. The motive for the workshop was to build up capacity and revamp the skills of the security staff.
GRASAG-UEW Holds 5th International Multi-disciplinary Conference
The Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana, University of Education, Winneba (GRASAG-UEW) Chapter, has held its fifth International Multi-disciplinary Conference for postgraduate students at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, North Campus, UEW.
Department of Geography Education Trains Stakeholders on GIS
The Department of Geography Education on Tuesday, 13th July, 2021, organised a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) training workshop for stakeholders from the corporate sector, public sector, civil society and specific staff in the University community.
The training, held at the GIS Laboratory at the Faculty of Social Sciences Education Block, Room 304, taught participants how to effectively use the GIS to fight against the Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19).
Geography Education Department Details Role of Geography in Fighting COVID-19
As part of their activities for the 2021 academic year, the Department of Geography Education in a seminar organised to commemorate its departmental week celebration has expounded the crucial roles Geography played in combating the COVID-19 pandemic.
The seminar held under the theme: “The Role of Geography in the Fight against COVID-19” took place on Wednesday, 14th July, 2021, at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, North Campus.
HR Refines UEW Security Personnel Skills
The Division of Human Resource (HR) in collaboration with the Security Services Directorate, University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has organised a five-day theoretical and practice hands-on workshop to train personnel of the Security Services Directorate.
The workshop, which took place from Monday, 5th to Friday, 9th July, 2021, at the North Campus Assembly Hall in Winneba, was basically to build the capacity and revamp the skills of the Security Staff.
Braille Library Receives Braille Bibles from BSG
As part of their charity work, the Bible Society of Ghana (BSG) on Thursday, 8th July, 2021, donated 14 boxes of Braille Bibles to the Braille Library at the Faculty of Social Sciences Education (FSSE) Block, University of Education, Winneba (UEW), North Campus.
The donation is to enable visually impaired students of UEW to accustom themselves to the Word of God. It was also in fulfilment of the BSG’s intent to get the Word of God across to everybody and make it accessible and affordable at the same time.
Management cuts sod for the Construction of Graduate School Building
Management of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has cut sod at the Faculty enclave in North Campus for the construction of a purpose-built structure for the School of Graduate Studies (SGS).
The construction of the Graduate School Complex is part of conscious efforts by the Management of UEW to strengthen and expand graduate studies, mentoring of graduate students in research and output and generally provide a conducive environment for both staff and students by upgrading infrastructure and resources to international standards.
ITECPD Interacts with Stakeholders to Implement GESI Policy
The Institute for Teacher Education and Continuing Professional Development (ITECPD), has organised a day’s meeting with stakeholders for the implementation of the National Teacher Education Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) policy.
The stakeholders comprised members from Transforming Teaching, Education, and Learning (T-TEL) and some departments in the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), namely Gender Mainstreaming Directorate, Department of Special Education (SPED) and Department of Basic Education.
UEW Designs Programme to Train Private School Teachers
A team of six Faculty Members of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), have successfully developed an education programme to scale up the training of untrained Private School Teachers under the Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS) to professionally trained teachers.
