As part of their charity work, the Bible Society of Ghana (BSG) on Thursday, 8th July, 2021, donated 14 boxes of Braille Bibles to the Braille Library at the Faculty of Social Sciences Education (FSSE) Block, University of Education, Winneba (UEW), North Campus.

The donation is to enable visually impaired students of UEW to accustom themselves to the Word of God. It was also in fulfilment of the BSG’s intent to get the Word of God across to everybody and make it accessible and affordable at the same time.

In her opening remarks, a member of the Central Regional Steering Committee, BSG, Dr. (Mrs.) Regina Amoako-Sakyi noted that BSG had been providing Bibles for a lot of people, however, most of the bibles were usually designed for persons with vision. So, BSG thought it wise to extend the Word of God and some resources to everyone including persons with special needs.

She asserted that BSG had been doing donations across the country. “Last month we donated to the University of Cape Coast main library. The goal is to reach as many institutions as possible and do similar donations so that we can bring everyone on board.”

Receiving the Bibles on behalf of UEW, the University Librarian, Mr. Viscount B. Nortey Buer, thanked the delegation for their kind gesture. He assured the donors that his outfit would ensure that the students make very good use of the materials to enhance their translation skills.

The Sales and Programme Officer, BSG, Mr. Daniel Agbele, implored the students to keep the materials very well and make good use of them by reading to transform their lives. He appealed to the beneficiaries to pray for BSG indicating that the prayers of the beneficiaries alone would help them accomplish their mission as a team.
