UEW Delegation Engages with Tallinn University to Strengthen Institutional Collaboration
A high-level delegation from the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) engaged in strategic discussions with the leadership of Tallinn University, Estonia, to explore opportunities for strengthening academic, research and institutional collaboration.
The UEW delegation comprised Prof. Stephen Jobson Mitchual, the Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Benjamin Ghansah, the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Science Education; and Prof. Enoch Frederick Sam, the Director of the Directorate of Research, Innovation and Development (DRID).
The delegation met with Prof. Priit Reiska, the Rector of Tallinn University, and Prof. Mart Laanpere to discuss expanding the existing relationship between the two institutions and identifying new areas of mutual interest.
The engagement enabled both universities to explore collaboration in research, postgraduate education, academic mobility, joint publications, conferences, innovation and knowledge exchange. The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation to create opportunities for academic staff and students while supporting the research and internationalisation objectives of both institutions.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of developing joint research initiatives and international funding proposals, particularly in areas where researchers from UEW and Tallinn University can complement each other. Such collaboration could create opportunities for interdisciplinary research, researcher mobility, postgraduate development and impactful research outcomes.
The discussions further emphasised the importance of establishing sustainable collaboration mechanisms rather than restricting partnership to individual activities. This includes strengthening institutional links, facilitating academic and student exchanges, organising joint academic events and developing collaborative research programmes.
The engagement with Tallinn University is part of UEW's broader commitment to strengthening its international partnerships and expanding opportunities for its academic community. Through these partnerships, the university aims to enhance research capacity, promote international exposure for staff and students and address educational, technological, and societal challenges through collaborative research and innovation.
The discussions concluded with a mutual interest in exploring specific areas of cooperation and developing mechanisms to transform these engagements into sustainable activities that benefit both institutions.
The University of Education, Winneba, looks forward to strengthening its relationship with Tallinn University and building a robust, mutually beneficial partnership that advances research, innovation, postgraduate education, academic mobility and international collaboration.
