IERIS-UEW Holds CPD Workshop for Teachers in Kwaebibirem Municipality

The Institute for Educational Research and Innovation Studies (IERIS) of the University of Education, Winneba (IERIS-UEW), a service provider for the National Teaching Council (NTC) in the conduct of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for teachers, has engaged 422 teachers in the Kwaebibirem with the regional and district directors of education.

The training took place at three venues concurrently at Kwaebibirem for two days, from Wednesday, 16th to Thursday, 17th August, 2023.

Department of Mathematics Education Launches Project to Mentor SHS Students

The Department of Mathematics Education, University of Education, Winneba (UEW), on Wednesday, 16th August, 2023, launched a project aimed at mentoring Senior High School (SHS) students in mathematics.   

The project, dubbed “Mentoring the Next Generation”, was held under the theme “Using Mathematics as a Tool to Achieve Quality Education (SDG 4)”.

GRASAG-UEW Hosts 7th International Multidisciplinary Conference

The Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana, University of Education, Winneba Chapter (GRASAG-UEW) has held its 7th International Multidisciplinary Conference for Postgraduate Students at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, North Campus, Winneba.

The three-day conference was under the theme "Paradigm Shift in Pedagogical Innovations for Transformative Education. The conference featured guest speakers and presenters from diverse backgrounds who provided insight into contemporary issues in education to inform policy and practice.

Dr. Appiah-Adjei Urges Academia and Industry to Collaborate in Training Journalists

The Head of the Department of Journalism and Media Studies (DJMS), School of Communication and Media Studies (SCMS), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Dr. Gifty Ap­piah-Adjei, has called for greater collaboration between academia and industry in the area of train­ing journalist.

She said the disconnect that existed between training and practice made it imperative for such collaboration, stressing that “It is important to underscore the critical role of professionalism in journalism practice in the country.”

UEW Scholars Engage NCPD on Removal of Barriers for Disability-Inclusive Transport System

Five Scholars from the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), undertaking a research project titled "Removing Barriers to Disability-Inclusive Transport System (Policies and Regulations) in Accra and Nairobi", have had an interaction with officials of the National Council on Persons with Disability (NCPD) for their input.

The research project, dubbed SITUATE-2, seeks to find viable solutions to the barriers the UEW researchers identified in SITUATE-1, which focused on a policy and practice agenda for a disability-inclusive urban transport system in Accra and Nairobi.   

Department of Development Communication Assesses Ghana’s Development Plan

The Department of Development Communication under the School of Communication and Media Studies (SCMS), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has organised a day’s seminar to appraise Ghana’s development agenda since its independence.

The event, held at the North Campus Mini-Conference Room was under the theme “Ghana’s Development Agenda Since Independence: What We Have Done Right, and What We Have Not Done Right as a Nation”.
