UEW and U.S. Researchers Secure NASA Grant for Innovative Education Project

Two distinguished scholars from the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Prof. Sakina Acquah and Dr. Benedict Arko, have joined forces with renowned researchers from the United States, Dr. Alvitta Ottley, Associate Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis (WUSTL), and Amanda Makulec, an Independent Consultant. Together, they have been awarded a prestigious grant by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) through the Gordon Research Conferences.

UEW Scholars Secure Grant for Innovative Coastal Resilience Project

In a notable development, Dr. Adams Osman, Project Lead, and Mrs. Christiana Kilson, respectively from the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), and the UEW- Co-operative Credit Union (CCU), have clinched a grant award of $148,400 from the United Kingdom’s Department for Environmental, Food, and Rural Affairs (DEFRA)/Ocean Risk and Resilience Action Alliance (ORRAA). This significant grant is in support of their collaborative venture with Hen Mpoano.

Examination Officers and Graduate Coordinators Undergo Orientation

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has taken a proactive step in upholding the integrity of its examinations by organising a comprehensive orientation workshop for newly appointed examination officers and graduate coordinators.

The event, held at the North Campus Mini-Conference Room, aimed to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to efficiently conduct examinations.

CODeL-UEW Hosts Conference Marking for 2nd Semester Examinations

The College for Distance and e-Learning (CODeL) at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has held a comprehensive nine-day conference marking dedicated to the second-semester examinations of the 2022/2023 academic year.

The event, held at the Gloriaka Hotel in Winneba, witnessed the gathering of 250 examiners from 44 study centres across the country.

The Minister of Education, Hon. Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has engendered a sense of optimism about the University of Education, Winneba's (UEW) potential to establish itself as the preeminent global hub for teacher education.   

The Minister underscored the university's solid foundation and unveiled plans that could catapult UEW to international acclaim in an exclusive interview with the UEW Media following a closed-door meeting with the Management of the University in Accra on Monday, 4th December, 2023.
