ITECPD Equips Lecturers on New B. Ed curriculum

A five-day workshop has been organised for lecturers of the Department of Basic and Early Childhood Education, under the Faculty of Educational Studies of the University of Education, Winneba, 

The workshop which took place at the Volta Hotel, Akosombo in the Eastern Region of Ghana, was to introduce the lecturers to the new Bachelor of Education (B. Ed) curriculum developed for basic schools in the country.

It was under the auspices of the Institute of Teacher Education and Continuing Professional Development (ITECPD) of the University of Education, Winneba.

ULMEC Organises a Four-day UEW-LMS Training for Lecturers

The Monitoring and Evaluation Committee (ULMEC) of the University of Education, Winneba-Learning Management System (UEW-LMS) has held a four-day comprehensive LMS workshop and training for all Lecturers in the University. 

The workshop, which started on Monday, 4th and ended on Friday, 8th January, 2021, took place at all the three Winneba sites (Central, North and South campuses) of the University.  

UEW Poised for Hybrid Mode of Teaching and Learning

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) is eager to introduce a 2:1;1:2 hybrid mode of teaching and learning for the 2021 academic year. 

This means that, if the Timetable Committee’s proposal to Management and the Academic Board is accepted, first-year students, as well as graduate students, will receive two credit hours of face-to-face instruction and one credit hour of virtual learning per week; whereas, second, third and final year undergraduate students will do the reverse of one credit hour face-to-face and two credit hours online studies per week. 

Management of COLANG Pays Courtesy Call on Ajumakoman Traditional Council

Management of the College of Languages Education has paid a courtesy visit to the Ajumakoman Traditional Council.  

Speaking on the purpose of the visit, Acting College Registrar, Mr. Osei-Bediako Appau, indicated that following the appointment of a new Principal to the College, Professor Dominic Kweku Danso Mensah, he needed to be introduced to Nananom, on whose land the College is situated.

UEW's Amponsah Sets New National Record at Sekondi-Takoradi Marathon

William Amponsah, a 21-year-old student of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has won the maiden edition of the Sekondi-Takoradi Marathon held on Boxing Day.

Amponsah, officially now holds the new record for 21km in Ghana having clocked a time of 1:02:51 to win the ultimate GHC 10,000 cash prize with some other goodies from sponsors.

Speaking to the media after setting the new national record, Amponsah was elated to have broken his previous personal best (1:04:38) to achieve this new milestone and hopes for a better future in his long-distance running career.

More Qualified Staff Employed to Support our Progressive Activities – Vice-Chancellor, UEW

The Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni has disclosed that the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) would employ more qualified staff to support its progressive activities.

He commended the Government of Ghana for granting the University financial clearance to recruit to strengthen its staff towards Management’s drive to building an academic centre of excellence in UEW.  

The Vice-Chancellor revealed this yesterday, Wednesday, 23rd December, 2020, at his Office when delivering his 2020 end of year message to the members of the University Community. 

IDeL Organises a Four-Day Workshop for Coordinators and Administrators

The Institute for Distance Education and e-Learning (IDeL) of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has organised a four-day intensive workshop for coordinators and administrators from its 45 centres across the country to enable it to take stock of the years activities and engage in a series of lined up training programmes in furtherance to its goals.

The workshop was held at Wadoma Royale Hotel in Abuakwa, Kumasi.

FFLEC Lecturers Encouraged to Share Innovative Ideas for Enhanced Academic Research

Lecturers in the Faculty of Foreign Languages Education and Communication (FFLEC) have been urged to keep the sharing of innovative ideas amongst themselves to culminate in increased research and publications.

They were prepared to accessing collective knowledge in academic research, promotion of collaboration and partnership within the Faculty. They were also required to brainstorm on advanced ways of teaching and learning as part of preparations for the commencement of the 2020/2021 academic year.

GMD Holds Virtual Workshop to Commemorate Global Campaign Against Gender-based Violence

The Gender Mainstreaming Directorate (GMD) has held a two-day virtual workshop on addressing violence and sexual harassment in the workplace to commemorate the global 16 days campaign to end gender-based violence.  

The virtual workshop via Zoom conferencing, held under the local theme “Awareness to Accountability”, was streamed live on official social media platforms of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) and also aired on its campus station, Radio Windy Bay 98.3 FM.  

UEW Partners Sabre Education to Train Kindergarten Teachers

Management of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sabre Education, Ghana to train kindergarten teachers on how to enact the play-based pedagogy in their classrooms. 

The MoU aims to enhance training in early childhood education to student teachers of the UEW, working closely with established structures and systems within the education sub-sector. 

The MoU, signed between the Department of Early Childhood Education of UEW and Sabre Education, took place at the Council Chamber, North Campus, Winneba.
