Addressing the delegation, Neenyi Ghartey VII noted the broader significance visit. He disclosed that several activities had been planned to mark the 30th anniversary of his enstoolment, aimed at celebrating Effutu heritage while promoting development within the Traditional Area.

He announced that activities would commence with the launch of the Aboakyer Festival on 10th February, 2026, followed by a special event to climax the celebrations on 3rd May, 2026. According to him, the main Aboakyer Festival, featuring the traditional deer hunt, would be held on 2nd May, 2026, while Akomesi would be observed in mid-August.

Neenyi Ghartey VII further revealed plans by the Effutu Traditional Council to organise a public lecture ahead of the Akomesi celebrations in honour of Neenyi Ghartey IV, whose contributions significantly shaped the development of Winneba and the surrounding communities.

In this regard, the Paramount Chief appealled to UEW to support the organisation of the proposed public lecture, particularly through technical and academic expertise. He assured the University of its inclusion in all anniversary activities and emphasised that celebrating and promoting Winneba ultimately enhances the image and stature of UEW.

“Whenever the Traditional Council requires technical or academic support, the University will be approached to provide the needed expertise and guidance,” he stated, adding that a successful anniversary celebration would reflect positively on UEW.
