SSA-UoG UEW Local Elects Substantive Executives

The Senior Staff Association – Universities of Ghana, University of Education, Winneba Local on Friday, 16th July, 2021, held elections at the University’s North Campus to elect its executives.  

The election, which was supervised by the Electoral Commission, Winneba, saw a massive turnout at the polls.  The peacefully organised elections started at 9:00 am and closed at 3:00 pm.  

GUSSS Holds Stakeholders Meeting

The Ghana Universities Staff Superannuation Scheme (GUSSS), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has held a meeting to present to its members the Financial Reports as of 31st March, 2021 and status of GUSSS.

The meeting held at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Auditorium, North Campus, Winneba, highlighted the 2021 Annual Budget and Operating Plans of the scheme as reviewed by the Management Board and approved by the University Council.

Easter Break, 2021

It is announced for the information of all staff and students of the University that the 2021 Easter Break will begin from 12:00 noon on Thursday, 1st April 2021, and end on Monday, 5th April 2021.

Business will resume on Tuesday, 6th April 2021.

Heads in the following departments sections should select staff to work during the break: Clinic Maintenance (Electricians), Sanitary, Conservancy, Hall Administration, Transport, Security and Grounds Gardens.

Management wishes all staff and students a Happy Easter.

German Giant Broadcasting Corporation Recognises Research Work of UEW Lecturer

A German state-owned international broadcasting corporation, Deutsche Welle (DW TV), has extolled an interesting research work in football done by a Lecturer of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Dr. Ernest Yeboah Acheampong.

Dr. Acheampong’s exploration entitled “African Footballers in Europe: Migration, Community, and Give-Back Behaviours”, sought to figure out African players’ migration strategy, collective resource base itinerary and the formal network resource.

IDeL Trains Tutors for Second-Semester Courses on the New Curriculum

The Institute for Distance Education and e-Learning (IDeL), has opened a five-week intensive workshop to resource tutors of the Institute to effectively teach the second-semester courses for the implementation of the new curriculum for basic education and the use of UEW’s Learning Management System (LMS).

The workshop currently ongoing at the Wadoma Royale Hotel, Abuakwa-Kumasi, will see some selected 650 tutors drawn across the country taking turns in various cohorts over the five weeks for the training.

Yoleg in Partnership with Department of Geography Education Observes World Wetlands Day

A Non-Governmental Organisation with the vision to spearhead development through research, Youth Legacy Ghana (Yoleg) in partnership with the Department of Geography Education under the Faculty of Social Sciences Education (FSSE), has organised Ghana Wetlands Sustainability Conference, 2021, to mark World Wetlands Day celebration.

The colloquium, which took place at the School of Creative Arts Conference Room, on Tuesday, 16th February, 2021, was held under the theme, “Wetlands and Water – Inseparable Vitals for Life”.
