Press Statement on International Artist’s Day (IAD) on Tuesday 25th October 2022 at the University Of Education, Winneba

Greetings to you all. Today, October 25 2022 marks an important day in the lives of all peoples of the world who use the arts in one way or the other. It is, International Artist’s Day, a day set aside to celebrate the contributions of artists to the peoples of the world.

The Office of the Dean of Student Affairs (ODSA), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has held an Intensive Pre-Academic Orientation Programme (IPOP), for sandwich students of the 2021/2022 academic year. The programme was at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, North Campus.   

A delegation from Gomoa Tarkwa in the Gomoa West District of the Central Region of Ghana, has paid a courtesy call on the Management of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), to pursue collaborative links with the university. 

The leader of the delegation, Hon. Bismark Baisie Nkum, disclosed the district’s readiness to make available 60 acres of land to the university for setting up a campus in the Gomoa West vicinity.

The Department of Agricultural Science Education, University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has held a stakeholder engagement with directors of agriculture from districts in the Central Region to solicit inputs to deliver tailor-made programmes.  

The meeting discussed some challenging issues in agriculture and ways to fashion customised programmes to solve problems both in animal and crop production. There was also a discourse on the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UEW and the districts in the areas of research and student internship.  

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) contingents for the 27th Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) games have received assorted items from the executive of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG-UEW) and Dr. Evans Asante, a University Council member, to spur on the contingent for greater laurels at the games.

The contingent received 31 packs of mineral water and eight cartons of plastic Malta Guinness and Beta Malt from UTAG-UEW as well as 15 packs of bottled water, five cartons of Rush energy drinks and five packs of toilet rolls from Dr. Evans Asante.  

The Office of the Dean of Student Affairs (ODSA), in collaboration with the Centre for International Programmes (CIP), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has held a one-day Intensive Pre-academic Orientation Programme (IPOP), for six international students to help them navigate their six-week educational expedition at UEW.

The students, from the University College of Northern Denmark and the University College Copenhagen, Denmark, are at UEW in fulfilment of the terms of the student exchange cooperation between UEW and the aforementioned institutions.

The Institute for Educational Research and Innovation Studies (IERIS), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has registered with the National Teaching Council (NTC) to roll out continuing professional development courses for basic and secondary school teachers in Ghana.

The courses, which include Administration and Management, Educational Psychology, Sociology of Education, and Educational Management Information System among others, had been designed to enhance teachers’ capacity and promote professionalism in teaching. 

The Directorate of Research, Innovation, and Development (DRID), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has organised a day’s seminar on grant writing for faculty, senior members in administration, students, and other staff of the university.

The workshop, which sought to build expertise in that field, was on the theme "Building Research Capacity and Grant Capture Opportunities in UEW." It was held at the Mini-Conference Hall at the North Campus of UEW.

The general public and especially Mature Distance Education applicants are hereby informed that the Entrance Examination for the 2022/2023 Academic Year is scheduled as follows:

With ‘Standout models,’ the Level 400 students turned their project work into titillating showbiz, just to showcase to the world, what they can offer.
