EPUC Partners UEW for the Award of UEW Degree
Management of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) and the Evangelical Presbyterian University College (EPUC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Council Chamber, North Campus, UEW, today, Monday, 10th May, 2021.
This instrument of affiliation establishes a framework with a view to each party exercising several and joint responsibilities in the fullest sense to ensure that academic standards of all programmes are maintained and enhanced under a level of attainment appropriate for the award of a Degree of UEW.
IDeL-UEW Equips Mentors for Supported Teaching in Schools
A three-week workshop for Supported Teaching in Schools (STS), has been opened in Kumasi for teacher-mentors of the Institute for Distance Education and e-Learning (IDeL).
The workshop is intended to train selected teacher-mentors from schools servicing the forty (40) study centres of the institute across the country.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Director for IDeL, Prof. Francis Owusu Mensah, said the teacher-mentors were carefully selected from schools where students from the Distance Education programmes will be doing their internship training.
UEW Council Chair Inducts Eight-Member Vice-Chancellor Search Committee
The Chairman of the Governing Council, University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Prof. Obeng Mireku, has sworn in an eight-member Search Committee set up by the University Governing Council to search for a suitable candidate to occupy the position of Vice-Chancellor.
The industrious current Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni will be retiring at the end of September this year thereby, making the position vacant from 1st October, 2021.
TEWU-UEW Chairperson Honoured at May Day Celebration
The Teachers and Educational Workers Union (TEWU) of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), Ghana has honoured the Chairperson of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) Chapter of TEWU, Ms. Theresa Ackon, for her outstanding contribution to the Union with a Regional May Day award.
Ms. Theresa Ackon, also a member of the Governing Council of UEW, becomes the first-ever TEWU-UEW Chairperson to received such an award. She was honoured on Saturday, 1st May, 2021, at the Central Regional May Day celebration.
Ghartey Hall Contributes to UEW’s Commitment to Actualising Total Inclusion
Management of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) on Friday, 30th April, 2021, commissioned a friendly walkway for persons with special needs at Ghartey Hall Block ‘B’, South Campus, Winneba.
The commissioning of this project is in partial fulfillment of the University’s core value of inclusion, a demonstration of UEW’s determination to actualising its commitment to total inclusion and the realisation of its vision of becoming an internationally reputable institution for teacher education and research.
Food and Nutrition Level 300 Students Undertake Food Exhibition of New Recipes
As part of the end of semester activities, level 300 students of the Department of Food and Nutrition Education have undergone an assessment on the exhibition of new food recipes at the forecourt of the Faculty of Home Economics.
The new recipes were developed for vegetarians and toddlers from one to three years, using staple food commodities from the various regions in Ghana. The occasion was also used to display the rich cultural heritage and resources from the various regions of Ghana.
IDeL to Establish a Study Centre at Ghana Military Academy
The Institute for Distance and e-Learning (IDeL) will soon set up a Study Centre at the Ghana Military Academy and Training School, Accra-Teshie, to train military officers for their professional and personal development.
The institution will design and offer some market-driven contemporary security-conscious programmes to arm security officers in the country as well as help reinforce the nation’s security services.
School of Business Commissions a 50 -Seater Reading Room
The School of Business, University of Education Winneba [UEW], has commissioned its newly established Reading Room at the South Campus, Winneba.
The 50-seater capacity Reading Room will greatly enhance effective studying as well as intensify research and academic work on campus.
Welcoming the gathering to the brief ceremony, the immediate past President, Business Administration Students Association [BASA], Mr. George Agyapong, on behalf of BASA, acknowledged Management and lecturers for supporting BASA, especially when the idea of establishing a Reading Room came up.
Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana Donates to School of Business
The Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG) on Wednesday 14th, April 2021, donated some assorted books to the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), School of Business library at the South Campus.
The items donated included 28 Accounting books and 28 past question books worth GH₵ 2,976.00, as its contribution towards the newly created library.
HPERS Partners Ghana Badminton Association for the Teaching and Promotion of Badminton
The Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Sports (HPERS) and the Ghana Badminton Association (GBA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance the teaching and promotion of badminton in the country and across Africa.
