UEW Invests and Inducts Prof. Mitchual as 5th Vice-Chancellor
The University of Education, Winneba (UEW), witnessed a historic event as it officially welcomed Prof. Stephen Jobson Mitchual into office as its 5th Vice-Chancellor on Friday, 19th April, 2024.
The investiture ceremony, held at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre on the North Campus of Winneba, was a grand affair attended by notable dignitaries and luminaries from various fields.
The ceremony was not only a formal induction of Prof. Mitchual but also a celebration of academic excellence and a vision for the future of UEW. The ambiance was set ablaze by captivating performances from the School of Creative Arts and the UEW Cadet Corps, marking the beginning of a new era under Prof. Mitchual's leadership.
In his welcoming address, Neenyi Ghartey VII, Chancellor of UEW, highlighted the pivotal role of a Vice-Chancellor in steering the course of an academic institution towards its vision of excellence. He expressed confidence in Prof. Mitchual's ability to lead UEW to unprecedented levels of achievement and praised his dedication to innovation and academic integrity.
Rev. Dr. Wengam, in his officiating role of inducting the new Vice-Chancellor into office, emphasised the importance of leadership grounded in moral values and service to humanity. He urged Prof. Mitchual to uphold principles of integrity, hospitality, and humility in his tenure as Vice-Chancellor, setting a shining example for the university community.
Prof. Mitchual outlined initiatives to strengthen UEW's engagement with local communities through expanded commercial activities, including the enhancement of the University Farm to incorporate fish farming and other ventures. His vision underscored UEW's commitment to holistic education, sustainability, and technological advancement.
Representing the government, Hon. Rev. Ntim Fordjour lauded UEW's contributions to Ghana's educational landscape and commended the university's transformation under previous administrations. He affirmed the government's support for UEW's mission and expressed confidence in Prof. Mitchual's leadership to propel the institution to greater heights.
Among the guests were an assemblage of luminaries, including the Deputy Minister of Education, Hon. Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, who graciously represented both the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, and the Minister of Education, Hon. Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum. Joining him was the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Dr. Stephen Yenusom Wengan, along with the Director General of the Ghana Education Service, Dr. Eric Nkansah, and the Director General of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment, Prof. Edward Appiah, alongside numerous other distinguished figures whose presence added immeasurable gravitas to the occasion.
