Dr. Sesi Collins Akotey

Dr. Sesi Collins Akotey is a clinical audiologist and lecturer whose work connects hearing healthcare, special education, and inclusive practice. His teaching, clinical service, and research focus on improving assessment, rehabilitation, and educational outcomes for children and adults with hearing loss in Ghana and similar settings.
He holds a PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences (Audiology option) from the University of Ottawa, Canada, and an MSc in Audiology from the University of Ghana. His doctoral research focused on developing automated speech-in-noise hearing screening tools for use in Ghanaian-language contexts. He is currently interested in digit triplet tests and other practical approaches to improving hearing screening and diagnostic services, particularly in low-resource settings.
Drawing on his clinical experience, Dr. Akotey investigates the everyday listening challenges faced by people with hearing loss and translates this knowledge into his teaching and research. He teaches and mentors future special education professionals, with particular emphasis on the relationship between hearing health, communication, learning, and inclusion.
