Abstract

This study looks at community-based associations and their effects on general housing provisions in selected communities in Ghana. To achieve sustainable urban development, it is important growth and development are measured at the local levels. This is because the SDGs, especially the SDG 6 of clean water and sanitation, 10 of reduced inequality and 11 of sustainable cities and communities cannot be achieved if development does not start from the local level, usually in partnership with other levels of governance as it is clearly stated in the first paragraph of the SDG-17 that ‘A successful development agenda requires inclusive partnerships—at the global, regional, national and local levels—built upon principles and values, and upon a shared vision and shared goals, placing people and the planet at the centre
