Adoption of the Muni-Pomadze Ramsar Site
The Department and its student association, GEOSA, have also adopted the Muni Ramsar Site to help protect its ecological integrity.
Traffic safety conference
In collaboration with International Cooperation in Theories and Concepts (ICTC), an international conference on traffic safety was co-hosted with the Department, through the efforts of Prof. Enoch Sam, with the help of some other colleagues from 8-9 June 2023
Co-hosted the Ghana Wetland Sustainability Conference 2021
In partnership with the Youth Legacy Ghana, the Department co-hosted the Ghana Wetlands Sustainability Conference 2021 on the theme: Wetlands and water; inseparable vitals of life, on 16 February 2021, at Central Campus Conference Centre, University of Education, Winneba. Industry players and stakeholders in the space attended the conference, including Forestry Commission and Environmental Protection Agency.
Green Ghana Day celebration
The Department partnered with the Forestry Commission to celebrate the maiden “Green Ghana Day celebration” on 11 June 2021, which saw the planting of 5,000 tree species in and around Winneba and the University campus. The Department also participated in planting of 1000 white mangroves around the catchment of Muni wetland. It was organized by the Forestry Commission in 2015 as part of World Wetlands Day
