Dr. Obed Appau is a Lecturer in the Department of Special Education at the University of Education, Winneba. He holds a PhD and an MPhil in Special Education and a Bachelor of Education degree in Special Education, with specialization in Education for the Hearing Impaired and Mathematics. His academic and professional interests include deaf education, Ghanaian Sign Language, signed language interpreting, inclusive education, early childhood disability inclusion, early intervention, assistive technology, individualized education programmes, and community-based rehabilitation.
He has served UEW as a Lecturer, Assistant Lecturer, Signed Language Tutor, Sign Language Interpreter, and Coordinator of Sign Language Interpreters. Dr. Appau has published widely through journal articles, edited-book chapters, and professional books. He is the author of the two-volume series GhSL Made Simple: Sign Language for Everyone and has contributed to several publications on deaf education, disability inclusion, early childhood education, and support services. He is a member of the World Association of Sign Language Interpreters and the University Teachers’ Association of Ghana.
