Graphic Design Unit

The Graphic Design Unit plays a versatile role in creating design solutions of high visual and communicative impact for promoting the corporate goals of the University. The Unit creates visual concepts with the use of computer software to communicate ideas that inspire, inform and communicate the vision of the University.

The main functions of the Unit are:

  • Conceptualise, plan and produce prints, online, and multimedia projects consistent with the University's graphic identity standards
  • Gather photos and special themes for the purpose of producing calendars and diaries with publishers for the subsequent year
  • Ensure strict compliance with all the unique features of the University logo and letterheads in all publications of the University.
  • Ensure that all University pre-press designs going to the press are timely with the expected quality not compromised.
  • Ensure all design requests are well developed and completed by the deadline
  • Ensure that all designs are properly aligned with the University's brand
  • Produce designs for the University's brochures, online advertisements, digital displays, flyers, outdoor banners, posters, notices etc
  • Provide photo coverage and edit same to university specification for publication
  • Work with various Faculties, Departments, Divisions, and Units for the purpose of ensuring conformity with in-house editorial design style.
  • Create images and identities with and convey messages of the University
  • Select colour, text style, size, length lines of headings, images, and layout in accordance with the University's policy for designs
  • Develop graphic illustrations for products, logos, and website
  • Determine how designs should portray the messages of the University
  • Turn hard facts or information into attention-grabbing, readable, and pictorial contents
  • Incorporate changes recommended by clients into the final design
  • Review designs for errors before publishing
