UEW Inaugurates 2027 Public Lecture Committee to Promote Global Innovation

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has inaugurated its 2027 Public Lecture Series Committee with a charge to introduce innovative ideas, strengthen international collaborations and enhance the global impact of the University's flagship academic programme.

The inauguration, held at the Council Chamber on Wednesday, 1st July 2026, marked the beginning of preparations for the 2027 Public Lecture Series. This reiterates UEW's commitment to advancing educational research, policy dialogue and knowledge exchange.

Inaugurating the committee, Prof. Stephen Jobson Mitchual, the Vice Chancellor, commended members for their dedication and the success of previous lecture series. He described their contribution as instrumental in enhancing the University's academic visibility and promoting intellectual discourse.

"I thank the Public Lecture Committee from the very bottom of my heart for what you have been doing and what you have done," he said.

Prof. Mitchual urged the committee to continuously innovate to keep the Public Lecture Series relevant and impactful. He encouraged members to explore new approaches that would broaden participation, increase visibility and position the programme as an internationally recognised platform for discussions on education.

He further challenged the committee to pursue partnerships with international institutions to promote joint planning, knowledge sharing and engagement with emerging global educational issues. He also proposed expanding the programme to showcase UEW's research and innovations alongside the public lectures to demonstrate the University's contribution to educational transformation in Ghana and beyond.

The Vice Chancellor stressed the need for effective dissemination of ideas generated through the lecture series to sustain public engagement and policy discussions long after each event. He said the programme should continue to catalyse meaningful conversations on national and global educational challenges while reinforcing UEW's reputation as a centre of excellence in teacher education, research and educational leadership.

Prof. Mavis Amo Mensah, Chairperson of the Public Lecture Series Committee, thanked the University Management for the confidence reposed in the committee and pledged its commitment to delivering a successful and impactful 2027 Public Lecture Series that aligns with the University's strategic vision.

The committee is expected to develop innovative strategies to strengthen scholarly engagement, deepen partnerships and showcase UEW's contributions to educational research and transformation through the 2027 Public Lecture Series.
