Biography
Dr. Richard O. Agjei is an accomplished researcher and postdoctoral scholar. He holds a PhD in Public Health from the University of Central Nicaragua and a Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH) from Imperial College London. In addition, he earned an MSc in Chemistry from the University of Eastern Finland and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, Finland.
Dr. Agjei has enhanced his academic foundation with professional training in Leadership and Management in Health and Epidemiology for Global Health from the University of Washington, USA. These credentials have strengthened his capacity to lead multidisciplinary research and to engage in evidence-based health system reforms.
His research interests are interdisciplinary, spanning Public Health, Epidemiology, and Environmental Health. His work aims to bridge the gap between research and practice, strongly emphasising improving health outcomes and policy through knowledge translation. Dr. Agjei has published in several high-impact peer-reviewed journals, contributing to global conversations on public health, environmental sustainability, and community well-being. He has served as a reviewer for several journals. Dr. Agjei has served as Chairman of the funding committee of the Centre for Multidisciplinary Research and Innovation (CEMRI).
Internationally, he has participated in ERASMUS+ exchange programmes in both Germany, Finland and the United States, promoting cross-cultural academic collaboration and experiential learning. He is also actively involved in several European Union–funded projects (REVIVER, TeProD, Green Gaming Projects), particularly under the Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) framework. These projects focus on strengthening institutional capacity in health education, digital innovation, and sustainable development in low- and middle-income countries.
Dr. Agjei continues to work at the intersection of research, teaching, and international collaboration to advance health equity and educational innovation across borders.
