Biography
Dr. Prince Owusu Adoma is an award-winning public health scholar, health promotion specialist, and Senior Lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Ghana. Recognized for his contributions to population health research and health systems strengthening, he received the Dean's Award of Excellence for producing the Best PhD Thesis at the University of Cape Coast in 2020.
His research sits at the intersection of health promotion, health systems, environmental health, implementation science, digital health, and health policy. He is particularly interested in developing innovative, evidence-based solutions to complex public health challenges, including non-communicable diseases, infectious diseases, climate and environmental health, health equity, and healthcare access in low- and middle-income countries.
Dr. Adoma has over a decade of experience spanning academia, research, community health practice, and policy engagement. He has led and collaborated on multidisciplinary research projects addressing HIV care, hypertension control, maternal and child health, emergency care systems, environmental health risks, and healthcare financing. His work is driven by a commitment to translating research evidence into practical interventions and policies that improve health outcomes and reduce social and structural inequalities.
A prolific researcher, he has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented his work at leading international conferences. His scholarship increasingly focuses on implementation and scale-up strategies for effective public health interventions, particularly within resource-constrained settings. He actively collaborates with researchers, policymakers, healthcare providers, and development partners across Africa and beyond to generate actionable evidence for health system transformation.
Before joining UEW, Dr. Adoma served as a Lecturer at the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), a Principal Health Tutor and academic leader in nursing education, and a Health Promotion Officer within the Ghana Health Service. These diverse experiences have provided him with a unique ability to bridge research, policy, education, and practice.
Beyond academia, he provides research, policy, and programme-development consultancy to governmental, non-governmental, and international organizations. He is passionate about mentoring the next generation of public health professionals and researchers and is committed to advancing locally generated evidence that addresses global health priorities.
Through his teaching, research, and professional engagement, Dr. Adoma continues to champion innovative approaches to health promotion, implementation science, and sustainable health system development, positioning him as an emerging voice in global public health scholarship.
