Associate Professor Pimpong, Samuel

Samuel Pimpong is an Associate Professor in Political Science at the University of Education, Winneba. He holds a PhD in Public Financial Management and a Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. Samuel also holds a Chartered Diploma in Public Financial Management and an MBA from Heriot Watt University, Scotland. Additionally, he holds an MPhil and B.A. Hons in Political Science, and an Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting (C.I.M.A.) from the Financial Training Company, London. Samuel’s main areas of expertise include Public Financial Management, Public Policy Analysis and Comparative Politics. Prior to joining academia, Samuel worked as a researcher with the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD). He was part of the research team that conducted surveys on Poverty Alleviation and Corruption on behalf of the World Bank in 2000 In 2001, he left for the UK for further studies. He worked with the University of Essex, Colchester, UK (Part-Time) as a Research Assistant, conducting research over a period of three (3) years on research titled ‘Living in Newham Survey’. Samuel has also worked with the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) on major projects including the Petroleum and Accountability Index Report (P-TRAC). Samuel has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals in the area of Public Financial Management.
