M.Phil. French
Entry Requirement
Applicants shall normally:

Be a graduate of UEW or other university recognized by the Academic Board of UEW,

Have a good Bachelor’s Degree in French, normally not below Second Class Lower Division or relevant qualification approved by the Academic Board on recommendation of the Board.

Third class degree applicants with work experience of three (3) years after the attainment of a 3rd class degree would be an advantage of admission consideration.

At the beginning of his/her course of study, the student will meet with members of the Departmental Board of Graduate Studies in order to determine course selection with a view to ensuring that the student has a sophisticated knowledge of the discipline.

To ensure progression in the programme from Master of Education (M.Ed.) in French or Master of Arts (Translation) degree in French to Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) in French, an applicant is expected to earn a Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (MCGPA) of 3.0 in the course work and in the dissertation. Such a candidate shall be given admission into the M.Phil. French programme
for a one-year Top Up by submitting for assessment a researched thesis (memoire) as required by the
School of Research and Graduate Studies for M.Phil. programme.

Master of Philosophy programme in French is run for four (4) semesters as a regular programme.

The Master of Philosophy degree in French (Language/ Linguistics, Literature, Didactics or Translation) will be awarded at the end of the programme.
