Dr. Akwasi Bosompem Boateng is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Strategic Communication in the School of Communication and Media Studies at the University of Education, Winneba, Ghana. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Cultural and Media Studies from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. After earning his PhD, he was appointed as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the School of Communication at North-West University in South Africa before joining the University of Education, Winneba as a Lecturer in communication and media studies.
Before his postdoctoral fellowship, Dr. Boateng lectured at the Durban University of Technology in South Africa, where he taught various courses in communication, media and public relations, among others.
He serves as a reviewer for several conferences, peer-reviewed journals, books and grant awarding institutions. He has won various grants and funding for research, publications and conferences, as well as published articles in esteemed peer-reviewed journals and books.
Dr. Boateng consults for various organisations in the areas of communication, media, public relations and political communication.
He is a member of several academic and research associations and bodies, such as African Studies Centre, Leiden. the Netherlands, French Institute for Research in Africa Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa, among others.
