Quality Assurance Directorate Inspects UEW Facilities Ahead of Students’ Return
The Quality Assurance Directorate and Planning at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) in collaboration with the Estate Section has inspected lecture halls and other University facilities ahead of students’ return from vacation.
The exercise brought together personnel from the Directorate of Quality Assurance and Planning and the Estate Section’s sanitation, maintenance and grounds teams to identify facility-related concerns requiring attention before the start of the academic session.
Speaking during the inspection, Dr. Medina Srem-Sai, the Head of the Department of Quality Assurance, said the exercise had been undertaken with the approval of the Director of Quality Assurance and Planning, Prof. Mrs. Emma Sarah Eshun, to ensure that the facilities were ready to support effective teaching and learning.
She commended the Estate Section, particularly Engineer Tetteh, for its prompt response to maintenance concerns identified during the inspection.
Dr. Medina Srem-Sai noted that engineers and electricians were engaged throughout the exercise, with relevant personnel being contacted to address issues as they emerged. She said the collaboration demonstrated the University’s commitment to maintaining functional and conducive facilities for teaching and learning.
She also urged students to play their part in preserving University facilities by using them responsibly and keeping shared spaces in good condition.
According to her, although the University had systems in place for the maintenance and monitoring of its facilities, the cooperation of students and staff remained essential to sustaining the improvements.
Dr. Medina Srem-Sai expressed optimism that the interventions would improve the condition of the facilities before the students return and contribute to a safe, comfortable and peaceful campus environment.
The inspection forms part of UEW’s broader quality assurance efforts to ensure that its physical facilities remain fit for purpose and effectively support the University’s core mandate of teaching and learning.
