QAD Commends Excellence in 3D Art Among UEW Creative Arts Students
The Quality Assurance Directorate (QAD) of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has commended Level 200 students of the Department of Creative Arts and Design Education for their creativity and innovation in 3-Dimensional Art Production.
This was during QAD’s monitoring of the end-of-second-semester examination held on Thursday, 18th September, 2025, at the New Mirror Room, Central Campus.
The exercise, led by Mrs. Shiella Appiah Kubi, Assistant Registrar at QAD, brought to the fore the students’ remarkable transformation from beginners to budding professionals within just one semester. The course, which integrates multiple artistic disciplines, is taught by a dedicated team of lecturers with specialised expertise.
Team Lead, Mr. Ebenezer Kow Abraham, who handles Sculpture, is supported by Dr. Kwame Kyere Diabour for Basketry, Dr. Ernest Okae-Anti for Leatherwork, Mr. Daniel Ato Adubah for Ceramics and Mr. Philibert Timpong for Jewellery. This diversity of teaching specialisations has provided the students with a rare opportunity to experiment and excel across different creative fields.
Speaking at the exercise, Mr. Abraham expressed delight at the high quality of work displayed by the students, many of whom had no prior knowledge of sculpture, basketry, leatherwork, ceramics or jewellery before enrolling in the course. He described their ability to produce such outstanding works within a single semester as a testament to their dedication and the support of their lecturers.
Mrs. Shiella Appiah Kubi lauded the lecturers for their passion and commitment to nurturing the next generation of creative professionals. She equally praised the students for their innovation and hard work, urging them not to rest on their achievements but to continue striving for excellence.
The monitoring exercise underscored UEW’s commitment to promoting creativity, practical skill development, and quality teaching and learning. The achievements of the Creative Arts and Design Education students reinforce the University’s position as a leading hub for nurturing artistic talent and equipping students with industry-relevant skills for the future.
