Internal Advertisement Staff Vacancy Deans

Applications are invited from suitably qualified staff of the University of Education, Winneba for appointment as Deans for the following Faculties and Schools.

  1. School of Graduate Studies
  2. School of Business
  3. School of Creative Arts
  4. Centre for International Programmes (CIP)
  5. Faculty of Ghanaian Languages Education
  6. Faculty of Social Sciences Education
  7. Faculty of Applied Behavioural Sciences in Education (FABSE)
  8. Faculty of Health, Allied Sciences & Home Economics Education (FHASHEE)

The Dean of the School/Faculty is a Senior Academic staff reporting to the Vice-Chancellor or any other person acting on his behalf.  He/she provides strong leadership and vision for the design, delivery and continuing review and assessment of all academic programmes and courses.

Responsibilities:       

Per the Statutes of UEW, the Dean of the Faculty/School shall:

  • be responsible for providing leadership to the Faculty/School in the exercise of its powers specified in the Statutes.
  • be the Chairperson of the Faculty Board and the Head of the Faculty.
  • in consultation with the Heads of Department, have the responsibility for the training of students and for the monitoring of Lecturers on study leave.
  • liaise with professional institutions, associations and similar bodies, and organise consultative committees comprising Faculty members and experts in the relevant disciplines within the Faculty.
  • coordinate the work of the Departments within the Faculty.
  • consult with, and be assisted by the Heads of Department in the execution of his/her duties.

Minimum Requirements:

Staff seeking appointment as Dean must:

  • be of professorial rank OR
  • be a Senior Lecturer for at least four (4) years and have eight (8) papers after promotion.
  • be able to serve a full term before attaining the compulsory retirement age of sixty (60) years.

Interested candidates are requested to submit an application letter indicating which faculty/school/centre they wish to be considered to registrar@uew.edu.gh. The following documents should accompany the application:

  • Updated curriculum vitae, including names and addresses of three (3) referees who would submit reports on them directly to the email above.
  • A two-page statement of the candidate’s vision for the School/Faculty

The Deadline for submission of the application is 12th June, 2026.
