Biography
Felix Abidemi Fabunmi is a Professor of Linguistics and Yorùbá Language from the Department of Linguistics and African Languages, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. He attended the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria where he bagged his MA Linguistics degree. He won the Faculty Prize for the best over-all performance in the 1992 Graduating Class, Faculty of Arts, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ilé-Ifè, Nigeria. He was appointed the Head of the Department in 2007 and also from 2020 to 2023. His main research focus over the last three decades in academics has been issues on syntax, syntactic theories, dialect-syntax, morphology, macro-sociolinguistics, dialectology, language endangerment, and translation studies. Professor Fabunmi is a respected winner of international research grants, travel grants and fellowships. He has successfully supervised eleven MA and five PhD theses, and currently supervising two PhD, one M.Phil and three MA student theses. He is the Editor of both Ife Journal of Linguistics, Languages and Literatures (IJLLL), a publication of the Department of Linguistics and African Languages, Obafemi Awolowo University, and Yorùbá: Journal of Yorùbá Studies Association of Nigeria, a publication of the Yorùbá Studies Association of Nigeria (YSAN).
