Graduates of the BSc Clothing and Textiles Education programme have diverse career opportunities in education, industry, and entrepreneurship. They may be employed in the following areas:
- Education Sector – as professional teachers in senior high schools, vocational/technical institutions, and colleges of education.

Public and Civil Service – in ministries, agencies, and state institutions related to education, trade, and industry.

Garment and Fashion Industry – in fashion houses, apparel production units, garment factories, and tailoring enterprises.

Textile Industry – in fabric design, production, quality control, and innovation.

Hospitality Industry – in clothing-related services, uniforms, and décor.

Haberdashery and Merchandising – in the sale and distribution of fabrics, notions, and
clothing accessories.

Ghana Standards Authority – in quality assurance, standardisation, and testing services.

Non-Governmental and Community-Based Organisations (NGOs & CBOs) – in
community outreach, training, and empowerment programmes. • Self-Employment / Entrepreneurship – establishing and managing small and medium-scale businesses in fashion, textiles, and clothing technology.
Entry Requirement
The entry requirements to the Department shall be based on the general minimum requirements demanded by the University of Education, Winneba, as well as special departmental requirements. These are:
Category A: Senior High School Certificate (SSCE/WASSCE): Applicants must have credits in three (3) core subjects (English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science) as well as any three (3) electives with an aggregate of 36 or better for WASSCE or 24 or better for SSSCE (WASSCE: A1-C6/SSCE: A-D)
NB: A pass of grade C6 in WASSCE or D in SSCE or better in Clothing and Textile is an advantage
Category B: Advanced Level Applicants: Applicants must have six Ordinary Level passes, including Mathematics and English Language, in addition to three Advanced Level passes
Category C: Mature Applicants: Applicants must be at least 25 years by the academic year of enrolment. Applicants must have five credit passes in WASSCE/SSCE, including three Core subjects (English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science) and any two elective subjects or five credit passes at the Ordinary Level, including English Language and Mathematics. The applicants must also pass the entrance examinations for the University of Education, Winneba, the general aptitude test (GAT) and the departmental subject area test (SAT).
Category D: HND Holders: Applicants must have a second class lower or better in Fashion and Textiles and pass interviews conducted by the department. Successful applicants will start the programme from Level 200.
Category E: Foreign applicants: Foreign applicants from accredited institutions with equivalent qualifications will be considered for admission. The certificates will be verified with the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).
Category F: Graduates from TVET institutions should have a pass in National Certificate II in Fashion Design and Technology.
Requirements for Graduation: To graduate, students in categories A and B must have accumulated a minimum of 120 credits, 90 credits for students in category D and undertaken an internship programme, as well as met any conditions set by the University
