UEW Alumni Association Launches Volta Regional Chapter to Strengthen Alumni Engagement
The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) Alumni Association launched its Volta Regional Chapter, marking the start of a nationwide decentralisation initiative to strengthen alumni participation and enhance engagement across the country.
The launch, held at the GNAT Hall in Ho on Friday, 4th September, 2026, brought together alumni from across the Volta Region. This initiative forms part of the Association’s constitutional mandate to establish functional regional structures to support alumni activities and improve communication between alumni and the national leadership.
Addressing participants, Dr. Samuel Ofori Danquah, the President of the UEW Alumni Association, outlined the Association’s progress and strategic direction. He highlighted key milestones including the promulgation of the Alumni Constitution and the launch of the UEW Alumni Global Network App. He noted that establishing regional chapters will create a structured pathway for alumni participation from the district to the national level.
Dr. Danquah called on alumni in the Volta Region to unite behind the new chapter. He stressed that a strong, vibrant regional structure would strengthen alumni representation and contribute meaningfully to the University's development.
A major highlight of the programme was the election of an Interim Regional Executive to coordinate the Association’s affairs in the region. Mr. Lover Dzramado was elected Interim Regional President with Mr. Peter Adzimah as Secretary, Mrs. Cynthia Allotey as Financial Secretary, Mrs. Saraphine Gbenu as Treasurer and Mrs. Doris Osei as Organiser.
In his acceptance remarks, Mr. Dzramado expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in the interim leadership and pledged to work with members to promote unity, increase participation and advance the interests of UEW alumni in the Volta Region.
The event also featured an open forum that enabled alumni to engage directly with the Association’s leadership, share concerns and offer suggestions on the Association’s future direction. In addition, participants received assistance to register on the UEW Global Alumni Network App to strengthen alumni data management and improve communication within the alumni community.
As part of the launch activities, Dr. Danquah, together with the newly elected Interim Regional President and the Regional Organiser engaged listeners on Ho FM 92.5 to promote the regional chapter initiative and encourage greater alumni participation in the Volta Region. The media engagement highlighted the Association’s commitment to decentralisation and to building a stronger alumni network nationwide.
The launch of the Volta Regional Chapter represents a significant step in the UEW Alumni Association’s efforts to build a united, active and decentralised alumni community capable of supporting the advancement of the University and its graduates across Ghana.
