The security operations at the Ajumako Campus of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), have been enhanced with the donation of a motorbike to the campus Security Section. This timely intervention aims to address long-standing mobility and surveillance challenges.

The motorbike was officially handed over to the Management of the College on Thursday, 15th January, 2026, at a brief ceremony held in Ajumako.

The initiative, facilitated by Prof. Samuel Alhassan Issah, the Dean of the Faculty of Ghanaian Languages Education, was sponsored by Mr. Stephen Zoure, whose commitment and proactive involvement were instrumental in translating identified security concerns into effective, practical solutions.

Addressing Management, Prof. Issah clarified that the motorbike was acquired through strategic networking and acknowledged Mr. Stephen Zoure for championing the acquisition. He noted that, as Dean, he is fully aware of the significant challenges confronting the Faculty, particularly amid prevailing liquidity constraints and reaffirmed his commitment to leveraging external networks to help address critical needs.

“We cannot solve all our problems with internally generated funds, which is why the use of our various networks is important,” Prof. Issah stated, underscoring a pragmatic approach to institutional leadership.

Prof. Issah, on behalf of the College Management, expressed appreciation to Mr. Zoure for the donation. He encouraged other staff members to emulate this example of proactive and collaborative problem-solving.

For several years, the College has faced persistent security constraints, particularly in routine patrols, surveillance and emergency response. Limited mobility significantly affected the efficiency of security personnel, often resulting in delayed responses and overstretched operations. The addition of the motorbike directly responds to these challenges, providing a cost-effective and functional means to enhance patrol coverage and operational readiness.

The donation will enable security personnel to conduct routine and extended patrols more effectively, respond swiftly to incidents and closely monitor vulnerable and high-risk areas across the campus. The visible presence of a mobile patrol unit is also expected to serve as a deterrent to potential security threats, contributing to a safer and more reassuring environment for staff, students and visitors.

The intervention reflects a shared leadership philosophy grounded in collective responsibility and proactive investment in institutional well-being. It reinforces the understanding that security is foundational to effective teaching, learning and service delivery and stands as a practical demonstration of UEW’s guiding principle: Education for Service through purposeful collaboration.
