Abstract

The purpose of the study was to explore the factors that influence career choice of senior high 
school students in the Winneba and Potsin townships in the Central Region of Ghana. A 
descriptive survey desıgn using mixed method approach was used for the study. A self-designed 
questionnaire was administered to 315 students sampled for the study while a semi structured 
interview guide was used to gather data from six school guidance team members. Descriptive 
statistics were used to analyse the research questions while inferential statistics were used to test 
the hypotheses. The study showed that students' level of knowledge on career choice was to low 
extent. It was again found that personality influence on career choice of public senior high school 
students was very high extent. The study again showed that there was a significant difference in 
level of knowledge on career choice on the basıs of gender.
