The Logistics Management Advantage: Transforming Operational Information with Shared Information
This study investigates the relationships between logistics management, information sharing, and operational performance of manufacturing firms in Ghana. A study model was constructed, utilising DCT and TCE theories to examine the relationships between the constructs. A total of 321 manufacturing firms registered with the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) were surveyed to gather data. The research model was analysed using Smart PLS-SEM 4.0, as the statistical method for data analysis. The results showed that logistics management has a significant and positive relationship with the operational performance of manufacturing firms in Ghana. Also, a significant positive relationship was realised between information sharing and operational performance. It was further established that information sharing positively and significantly enhanced the relationship between logistics management and the operational performance of manufacturing firms in Ghana. The study demonstrates the uniqueness of integrating DCT and TCE in modern logistics systems and effective information sharing collectively enhances operational efficiency and stakeholder alignment, providing strategic recommendations for sustainable competitive advantage. This study contributes to empirical knowledge by showing how combining modern logistics systems with effective information sharing reduces transaction costs and boosts operational performance, whilst providing valuable strategic insights for achieving a sustainable competitive edge.
