UEW Lecturer Selected for Pan-African AI Policy Fellowship
A lecturer of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Prof. Delali Kwasi Dake, has been selected for the competitive 2026 Africa Artificial Intelligence Policy Fellowship organised by Lawyers Hub and the AI Policy Lab.
The fellowship, which runs from May to August 2026, brings together a select cohort of emerging leaders, researchers and policy professionals from across Africa to engage in discussions on Artificial Intelligence (AI) governance, digital policy, ethical AI and emerging technology regulation.
The Africa Artificial Intelligence Policy Fellowship attracted more than 1,900 applications from across the continent with only a limited number of fellows selected to participate in policy engagement, collaborative learning, research activities and AI governance initiatives shaping the future of Artificial Intelligence in Africa.
As part of the programme, fellows will contribute to policy discussions, collaborative research and joint publication activities focused on responsible AI development and governance frameworks tailored to the African context. The fellowship provides a unique platform for strengthening expertise in AI governance, technology regulation and digital transformation while fostering cross-border collaboration among African professionals.
The selection reflects the growing recognition of UEW’s contribution to emerging technology research and innovation. It also aligns with the University’s strategic focus on digital transformation, responsible technology development, research excellence and the preparation of future-ready graduates equipped to contribute to national, continental and global development.
The fellowship is expected to enhance knowledge and capacity in key areas including Responsible AI, AI governance, computing education, technology policy and emerging technologies, further positioning UEW to contribute meaningfully to conversations on the ethical and effective use of Artificial Intelligence in Africa.
