Admission into PELP - Professional Education Leadership Programme

Admission into PELP

Applications are invited from qualified applicants to pursue the following programmes:

  1. Postgraduate Certificate (Professional Education Leadership-Level 1)
  2. Post-graduate Diploma (Professional Education Leadership-Level 2)
  3. Master's (M.Ed. equivalent) (Professional Education Leadership-Level 3)

This programme will serve as a de facto benchmark for practice as a senior leader in the Ghanaian education system. The certificate awarded will be the license to practice.

DETAILS:

  • Duration: One year (two sessions)
  • Mode: face-to-face (weekends and vacations)/online

Entry Requirements:

Level 1: An applicant must:

  1. Hold a First degree in any programme and also have the following professional requirements:
  • Minimum of five years of professional experience in teaching at the Early Grade, Primary, and Junior High School levels,
  • Be serving in managerial or leadership positions in a teaching-related field at the junior level
  • Be Head or Assistant Head of a Primary or Junior High School and other related educational organisations.

Level 2: An applicant:

  1. Must hold a First degree in any programme and also meet the following professional requirements:
  • Minimum of five years of professional experience in teaching at the secondary level,
  • Serving in managerial or leadership positions in a teaching-related field at the middle level (e.g., heading a department; Leading subject teaching).
  • Be a Head or Assistant Head of a Senior High School, or a Head or Assistant Head of a Vocational and Technical educational institution, and other related institutions.

Level 3: An applicant:

  1. Must hold a first degree in any programme, and also meet the following professional requirements:
  • Must have a minimum of five years of professional experience in teaching at a post-secondary level,
  • Serving in managerial or leadership positions at the tertiary level (post-secondary educational institutions). These include Heads of public and private universities; Nurses and Midwifery Training Institutions; Colleges of Education; Security Training Institutions and agencies; district, regional and national directorates of education; NGO’s that support education provision, and those in other relevant sectors.

Note:

Those holding a Master's or Doctorate in relevant fields (leadership, management, administration, educational policy), and other relevant qualifications from recognised institutions, may be exempt from undertaking some courses at various levels.

All applicants would have to pass a selection interview.

PROSPECTS:

Graduates of the PELP will have the following employment/academic progression potentials:

  1. Practicing as licensed professional leaders in educational and non-educational establishments/organisations in the public and private sectors.
