Faculties of Technical Education and Vocational Education hold workshop

The Faculties of Technical Education and Vocational Education have organised a workshop recently for their academic staff to sensitise them on the strategic vision of UEW and its implication for budgeting. The workshop also looked at the role of Heads of Department as leaders of academic departments as well as issues relating to the conduct of examination.

DON’T ADOPT “CHEW AND POUR” STRATEGY_ HOD TELLS HISTORY EDUCATION STUDENTS.

A general meeting was held for all students reading History Education by the Department of History Education at the Faculty block on 24 November, 2016.

The meeting brought together more than sixty students from various levels in the Department. The platform was used to discuss the upcoming examinations and Ghana National History Day (GNHD). It was also a favorable opportunity for history students to actively interact with staffs and lecturers of the Department about their concerns and grievances.

UEW RECEIVES DELEGATION FROM UNIVERSITY COLLEGE CAPITAL, COPENHAGEN, DENMARK

A 10 member delegation from the University College Capital (UCC), Copenhagen, Denmark has paid a three-day visit to the University of Education, Winneba, Ghana.

The delegation led by the Head of International Department of UCC, Dr. Mette Jørgenson arrived in Winneba on Wednesday, 16th November, 2016. The visit which brought together Deans and Heads of Department from selected Faculties in the University was characterized by series of presentations, interactions and dinner meant to enhance collaborations between the two institutions.

“LISTENING TO THE FEMININE SIDE: A HISTORY OF WOMEN IN PARLIAMENT FROM 1993-2013” - SEMINAR REPORT

The Department of History Education initiated its seminar series during the 2013/20014 academic year when the Department was created. The aim of the seminar series is to contribute to building a vibrant intellectual culture in our noble institution. The Department now hosts the programme with the Department of Political Science Education.

UEW Security Facilitates Training Of Peki College Of Education Staff On Security.

The Director of Security and four other staff of UEW have facilitated two days each security training for security staff, students and teaching staff of Peki E.P. , St. Francis, and Amedzofe Colleges of Education all in the Volta Region.

The training is part of activities in milestone one of the T-TEL Challenge fund for the Colleges of Education on the project title, “Providing Safety environment for On and Off Campus Students of Peki, St. Francis and E.P. Amedzofe Colleges of Education”.

Department of Home Economics Promote Indigenous Dishes

The African proverb that says “your food is supposed to be your medicine and your medicine is supposed to be your food” was truly exhibited by the Department of Home Economics as a food exhibition dubbed “Food Exhibition and Promotion of Endangered Ghanaian Dishes” organised on 16th November, 2016 at the North Campus to showcase the traditional Ghanaian dishes from all the ten regions of Ghana.

Be committed and dedicated to your work – HR tells UEW National Service personnel

A training seminar has been held for national service personnel in UEW by the Division of Human Resources at the J. N. Aryeetey Auditorium on 8th October, 2016.

The seminar brought together one hundred and fifty seven national service personnel from the various departments in UEW, paved way for service personnel to actively interact with the Division of Human Resources and also channel their grievances through the division to appropriate authorities for the necessary steps to be taken in resolving them.

UEW Signs agreement with Archer College of Early Childhood Education

The University of Education, Winneba has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Archer College of Early Childhood Education that leads to the establishment of a mentoring relationship between the College and UEW.

The Vice-Chancellor of UEW, Professor Mawutor Avoke stated that the agreement was informed by the institutional mandate of UEW to provide the needed assistance to various institutions in the training of competent teachers for all educational levels. He was appreciative of the fact that Archer College had chosen UEW as their mentor University.
