The Finland ambassador to the West African sub-region, Mrs. Pirjo Suomela-Chowdhury on December 11, 2016 paid a visit to the University of Education, Winneba to interact with staff and students of the University as part of the operational agreements in the Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Jyvaskyla (JYU) in Finland and the University of Education, Winneba in Ghana.
The Department of History Education has been known for its substantive commitment to student success. With this success, comes reward. The Department has been highly praised for its achievements over its three and half year existence. The Department has consistently rewarded its members for the collective contribution they make in achieving the ultimate goal of making History Education at UEW a leader in the field.
The Valco Trust Fund in Accra has made a donation of equipment to the Department of Home Economics Education. The gesture is a response to a request made by two Patrons of the Home Economics Students Association in the University of Education, Winneba. The Equipment which comprise a fridge, sewing machines, pressing iron (dry), pressing iron (steam), Gas Cookers (with oven), Blenders, Gas Cylinders (with regulators, hose & clips) was donated at a ceremony held at the forecourt of the Valco Trust Fund Building in Accra on 12th December, 2016.
We join all Ghanaians to congratulate our President-Elect of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mawutor Avoke has assured the Techiman Traditional Council of his unwavering commitment to carry through the University of Education, Winneba’s (UEW) plan to continue and complete all projects in that area. He gave the assurance when he called on the Omanhene of the Techiman Traditional Area and President of the Traditional Council, Oseadeyo Ekumfi Ameyaw IV on Sunday, December 4, 2016 to officially introduce himself as the new Vice-Chancellor of the UEW.
The Division of Human Resource has organised an interactive workshop for staff of the University farm on Winneba campus. The workshop which was part of the annual scheduled interactive programmes for staff of the University farm brought together staff of the Division of Human Resource, Maintenance Office and the University Farm.
The University of Education, Winneba has organised its 21st Congregation Ceremony at the Winneba Campus. The four-day ceremony commenced on Wednesday 23rd November, 2016 and lasted till 26th November, 2016 at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre in Winneba.
The event saw to the graduation of a total of 8,578 students at various levels: made up of 927 Postgraduate students, 4,789 Bachelor of Education students; 2,779 and 83 Diploma and certificate awards, respectively.
The National Institute of Development Administration, NIDA, Bangkok in Thailand has renewed agreement with the University of Education, Winneba at a ceremony held in Thailand in November, 2016.
The French Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Francois Pujolas, has praised the Department of French Education, University of Education, Winneba, for the passion with which they participated in an exhibition mounted by Presence Africaine. He was particularly impressed by a paper that Dr Alfred B Cudjoe, Head of Department of French, presented on the language of African literature, a subject which, in the Ambassador’s words, has generated a lot of debate.
