Prof. Afful-Broni Delivers Inaugural Lecture on Time Management

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni has delivered his inaugural lecture on the topic “Time Management: a magic wand for leadership effectiveness”.

The ceremony of academic accomplishment, held at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre of UEW on Tuesday, 28th September, 2021, was chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, University of Health and Allied Sciences and immediate past Chair for Vice-Chancellors Ghana, Prof. John Owusu Gyapong.  


UEW Amalgamated Sports Clubs bids Farewell to Sportspersons

The Directorate of Amalgamated Sports Clubs of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has organised a farewell and awards ceremony for final-year students who will be completing their programmes of study at the end of the semester. 

The 49 deserving and hardworking athletes, who have represented UEW in both internal and external competitions during their stay on campus, were honoured on Thursday, 23rd September, 2021, at the North Campus Assembly Hall, Winneba.  


Simpa Hall JCR Executives of 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 Commission Projects

The Simpa Hall Junior Common Room (JCR) executives of 2019/2020 and 2020/2021, led by Mr. Emmanuel Fumey and Mr. John Richard Mensah, have commissioned projects at the Hall’s enclaves at the North Campus of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW). 

The projects commissioned were the renovated Male JCR and Simpa Hall Mosque as well as the provision of two 13,500 capacity poly tanks to augment the already existing resources at the Hall.    


Online Intensive Pre-Academic Orientation Programme | IPOP | Sandwich

The Office of the Dean of Student Affairs (ODSA) is organizing a two-day Online Intensive Pre-Academic Orientation Programme (IPOP) for all fresh graduate and undergraduate Sandwich students for the 2020/2021 Academic Year. The orientation is scheduled as follows:


  • Wednesday, 29th September, 2021
  • Thursday, 30th September, 2021
  • Friday, 1st October, 2021

UEW-LMS Shut Down for Maintenance

The Directorate of ICT Services will like to inform the university community that the UEW-LMS ( will be shut down for 36 hours to enable the team undertake maintenance. It will therefore be unavailable from 6:00pm on Monday the 27th of September 2021 to 6:00am on Wednesday the 29th of September 2021.

Any inconvenience caused is deeply regretted.


Chairperson of TEWU-UEW Hands over

The Chairperson of the Teachers and Educational Workers Union, University of Education, Winneba Chapter (TEWU-UEW), Sis. Theresa Ackon, who is set to retire from active service on 30th September, 2021, has handed over to the Vice-Chairman, Bro. Ebenezer Ofori Atta in accord with the Union’s constitution.    

The ceremony took place at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, North Campus, Winneba on Friday, 17th September, 2021.

UEW Lecturers win Research Grant to Evaluate Teacher Licensure Exams

A team of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) staff has won a competitive research grant to evaluate the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE). 

The team, composed of academics drawn from the Faculty of Educational Studies, the Institute of Educational Research and Innovation Studies (IERIS) and the Directorate of Research, Innovation and Development (DRID) is led by Professor Samuel Asare Amoah. 


Department of Food and Nutrition Organises Cake Decoration and Sugarcraft Display

The Department of Food and Nutrition Education has held an exhibition of cake decoration, sugarcraft and practices in family living for its final year students at the forecourt of the Faculty of Home Economics Education.  

The students adorned their tables with a variety of cakes including wedding, organisational, anniversary, “kente” designed, mirror glazed, jelly, fancy cakes of all kinds and home improvement artefacts such as paper flowers, floor mats, chandeliers, scatter cushion, chair backs, table runners, placemats and a lot more.   


Inter-Tourism Expo 2021

The School of Creative Arts in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and Global Signature present Inter-Tourism Expo 2021 on the theme, "Optimising Destination Ghana: Our people, brands, and culture".
The programme is scheduled as follows:

Virtual Mobility Project Workshop held for UEW and University of Derby Students

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Ghana and the University of Derby, United Kingdom (UoD-UK), have held a three-day virtual mobility project workshop to enhance the understanding of students on cross-cultural awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 30 students from varied subject areas of both institutions.   


Project Exhibition Organised for Level 400 Physics Students

A project exhibition has been organised for level 400 elective physics students at the Department of Physics Education Laboratory Two (2) at the South Campus of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), on Tuesday, 14th September, 2021. 

The one-day event saw the Department’s young enthusiastic final year students exhibiting science projects they had worked on during their course of study. 


Physics Education Lecturers Trained on the Usage of Photonics Kits

Lecturers in the Department of Physics Education under the Faculty of Science Education (FSE), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), have undergone a day’s hands-on virtual workshop on the effective usage of photonics kits.   

They were educated on how to use the kits to perform fundamental modules in polarisation of light, diffraction and interference, colours, lenses and telescopes.


Collection of ID Card Holders

Members of staff are kindly informed that the University has taken delivery of ID Card holders for distribution to staff.

Staff are therefore, entreated to visit the Division of Human Resource Room 106 for collection. Staff will be made to present their ID card before collection.
