IDeL to Establish a Study Centre at Ghana Military Academy

The Institute for Distance and e-Learning (IDeL) will soon set up a Study Centre at the Ghana Military Academy and Training School, Accra-Teshie, to train military officers for their professional and personal development.   

The institution will design and offer some market-driven contemporary security-conscious programmes to arm security officers in the country as well as help reinforce the nation’s security services.

Call for Application - PhD fellowship at the University of Jyvaskyla

Applications are invited for qualified Ph.D. candidates for a three to four-month fellowship (September-December 2021) tenable at the University of Jyvaskyla, Finland.

Eligibility

Applicant must

  • Be a Ghanaian on a Ph.D. programme at UEW
  • Have successfully completed this coursework
  • Have their thesis proposal being education-related

It will be expected that applicants possess a valid passport. Teaching staff of UEW have a higher advantage.

Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana Donates to School of Business

The Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG) on Wednesday 14th, April 2021, donated some assorted books to the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), School of Business library at the South Campus. 

The items donated included 28 Accounting books and 28 past question books worth GH₵ 2,976.00, as its contribution towards the newly created library.

Fee Payment and End-of-Semester Examinations

Management has favourably considered appeals from students who made part-payment of fees to enable them to register and participate in the End-of-Semester Examinations.

Management wishes to inform such affected students to submit their names with evidence of part-payment to their Heads of Department by 5:00pm, Tuesday, 13th April, 2021 to facilitate their registration and participation in the End-of-Semester Examinations.

Quality Assurance Directorate Engages Writers of the Teacher Education Reform

The Director of Quality Assurance, Prof. Emmanuel Obed Acquah, has held a meeting with the writers of the Teacher Education Reform from the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), to dialogue on how best to improve academic programmes of UEW to suit contemporary trends.   

The meeting, which took place at the School of Creative Arts Conference Room, Central Campus, Winneba, was attended by the main writers of the new four-year Bachelor of Education Curriculum and key implementing stakeholders in the University.

Provisional 2020/2021 End-of-First Semester Examinations Timetable

We attach herewith the provisional timetable for the 2020/2021 End-of-Semester Examinations. The end-of-semester examination will begin on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, and end on Friday, April 30, 2021.

However, the General Papers will begin on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, and end on Friday, April 16, 2021.

In connection with that, Lectures will end on Friday, April 9, 2021

National Service Orientaion for all Final Year Students of UEW

The Office of Dean Student Affairs (ODSA) is assisting the Central Regional Secretariat of the National Service Scheme to organize a One-Day National Service Orientation exercise for all the final year students and/or prospective National Service Persons of the University of Education, Winneba.

IDeL Ends Workshop for Second-Semester Courses on the New Curriculum

The Institute for Distance Education and e-Learning (IDeL), has ended a five-week intensive training workshop to resource Basic Education tutors of the institute to effectively teach the second-semester courses for the new curriculum and the use of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) Learning Management System (LMS).

The workshop, which took place at the Wadoma Royale Hotel, Abuakwa-Kumasi, saw some 650 selected tutors drawn across the country grouped into 10 cohorts to be trained in turns over the five-week training period.

GA Mantsε’s Delegation Visits the College of Languages Education

The College of Languages Education, Ajumako, University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has received a delegation sent at the behest of the Ga Mantsε, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II to the College.

The delegation led by the Chief of Staff, Office of the Ga Mantsε, Chief Justice Julian Naa Yaa Sarkodie Mensah. was at the College to visit staff and students of the Department of Ga-Dangme Education.
