B. Sc. (Integrated Science Education)

Programme Description

The programme centres on the physical and applied sciences and it is designed to equip the degree holder with the knowledge, skills and attitudes required in a theoretical and practical teaching of science and the applied sciences in the basic, secondary and post-secondary schools.

 

Target Group

The programme seeks to attract:

•      SHS Certificate Holders and Diplomats

•      All who want to be trained in the sciences

 

 

B. Sc. (Home Economics Education)

Programme Description

The Home Economics Programme is designed to provide training for students to enable them teach the following subjects; Catering and Sewing, Foods and Nutrition, Management in Living and Family Life Education.

 

Target Group

The programme is intended for:

•      SHS Certificate Holders

•      Teachers’ Certificate ‘A’ and HND Holders 

 

B. Sc. (Physical Education)

Programme Description

The programme is designed to produce graduates who will ensure standards in physical education delivery. Again the programme seeks to assist students to appreciate the scientific principles underlying physical activities, understand the range of suitable technologies used in physical activities as well as help students have knowledge of the various health problems associated with inactivity and the links between health and exercise.

B. Sc. (Mathematics Education)

Programme Description

The Mathematics Education Programme consists of Mathematics, Statistics and ICT.

The programme is designed to equip students with relevant knowledge, concepts, skills and attitudes which will enable them teach both Mathematics and ICT in schools after successful completion, graduates can pursue further studies in areas like Measurement and Evaluation, MBA and MSC in Statistics, Demography, Mathematics and others.

B. Sc. (Information and Communication Technology Education)

Programme Description

The programme aims at providing a thorough degree level Teacher Education in

Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Students are trained in the use of Information Technology to enhance teaching and learning. They are also equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to provide IT solutions to practical problems in business and industry.

B. Sc. (Sports Coaching)

Programme Description

The aim of the programme is to produce graduates who will ensure standards in club, national and international sports coaching. The objectives are to train students to appreciate the scientific principles underlying player quality and player management and also to understand the range of suitable techniques for team coaching and player development.

B. Sc. (Physics Education)

Programme description

The Physics Education programme aims at:

•   Training of quality physics teachers to teach at senior high school level

•   developing in students practical skills to handle physics practical activities with confidence

 

Specific Objectives

The Physics Education programme objectives are to:

•      provide opportunities for students to engage in academic and educational research that     will help to promote physics education in Ghana and elsewhere.

B. Sc. (Chemistry Education)

Programme description

The programme seeks to provide:

•   Quality Chemistry Education teachers who will be recognised nationally and internationally for their efficiency in producing excellent chemistry teaching in schools.

•   Help students to appreciate the beauty of chemistry in explaining nature.

•   Opportunities for students to develop their unique pedagogical content knowledge (PCKs).

•   A conducive atmosphere for interaction between recognized science educationists in order to produce excellent chemistry educators.

 

B. Sc. (Biology Education)

Programme description

The programme seeks to:

•      increase students’ knowledge about all aspects of organisms, to encourage greater              benevolence in the relationship between humans and the natural environment and to implement biological factors into various technologies or management techniques

•      further the education of students in a range of biological and related sciences in order to equip them to teach Biology at Senior High Schools

B. B. A. (Banking and Finance)

 Entry requirements

  • SSSCE Candidates

 

i) Candidate must have credit passes in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects, including English Language, Mathematics and Science/Integrated Science OR Social Studies, plus

ii) Credit passes in any other three (3) relevant elective subjects (i. e. Business Management, Financial Accounting, Elective mathematics, Cost Accounting, Economics, Accounting, and Business Mathematics).
