The objective 3, strategic 3.1 of the 2014-2018 Strategic Plan,  i.e.  “expand collaboration with other institutions in academic research” has been given a boost to its implementation when the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mawutor Avoke met the officials from School of International Education, University of Electronic Science and Technology, China (UESTC) on Friday, January 22, 2015 at the Principal’s office, College of Technology Education, Kumasi.


The Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Francis Ayikwei Tagoe and his entourage paid a working visit to the University of Education, Winneba on February 4, 2016 where he interacted with the Vice-Chancellor of UEW, Prof Mawutor Avoke and some top officials of the University. The Chief Executive takes over from Hon. Nii Ephraim of blessed memory.

The visit which is his maiden, since assuming office, was aimed at enhancing partnership between the University and Municipality, share a few concerns, concretise those concerns, and discuss a way forward at a more appropriate time.


Fire is said to be any chemical reaction that takes place to produce light and heat with the presence of oxygen. Without fire, we will be helpless against nature since fire is both friend and foe. It is important to note that there is a darker side to fire and that it can destroy. 

Vice-Chancellor paid a courtesy call on Heads of Units and Departments

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba paid a courtesy call on Departmental and Unit heads of government Institutions in the Effutu Municipality, Winneba, on January 14, 2016. The Vice-Chancellor who was accompanied by members of management call on the Divisional Head of Police, the Leadership of the Ghana Police and Staff College, Leadership of Prison Service, the Municipal Health Directorate and the Fire Service.

Failed institution ….suggests failed administrative systems

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba, Prof. Mawutor Avoke, made this observation when he presented the keynote address at the Opening Ceremony of the Annual Review Meeting and Workshop for Senior Members at the Offices of the Registrar underway at Mankessim in the Central Region on 28th January, 2016.

2015 Registrars Annual Review Meeting underway at Mankessim

The 2015 annual review meeting of senior Members of the Registrars Department at the University of Education, Winneba has begun at Manna Height Hotel and Conference Center at Mankassim in the Central Region on January 27, 2016.

Welcoming participants, the Registrar, Dr. C. Y. Akwaa-Mensah informed them that, annual review meetings organized by the Offices of the registrar, are meant for stock taking and also provides an opportunity to reflect on work done at the units and departments in the office the previous year and to map out strategies for subsequent years.

UEW formally admits Fresh Student in the Northern Sector into its privileges and facilities

Five thousand six hundred and three (5,603) fresh students from the Northern Sector were formally admitted into the University of Education, Winneba on January 23, 2016. These formed part of a total of Nine Thousand Seven Hundred and Nine (9,709) registered fresh students pursuing various Distance Education Programmes from IEDE, Faculties of Technical Education, Vocational Education and in Centre for Competency-Based Training (CBT).


The Principal of the College of Technology Education, Kumasi of the University of Education, Winneba, Prof. (Ing.) Reynolds Okai has implored students of the College to make reading a habit by visiting the College Library regularly.

He made the call when an Alumnus of the College and Chief Executive Officer of Winkayd Shopping Mall, Mrs. Winifred Darkwa made a donation of over two hundred assorted books worth about Ten Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS10,000) to the College Library.


The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) held a matriculation ceremony for the 2015/2016 batch of Distance Education students in the Southern Sector at Winneba, on Saturday January 16, 2016.
