KUMASI CAMPUS ORGANIZES VERIFIERS WORKSHOP

The Government of Ghana (GoG) through the Ministry of Education (MOE) has initiated several projects and activities to enhance equitable access, improve training delivery and curricula in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector.  Among such initiatives is the training of instructors in TVET through the Competency Based Training mode of delivery to meet the demands of the TVET sector.  In order to achieve this objective, the MOE with support from the African Development Bank (AfDB) is working through the Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (C

GRADUATE SCHOOL AND IERIS RE-ACTIVATE GRADUATE SEMINAR SERIES

The School of Graduate Studies in collaboration with the Institute of Educational Research and Innovative Studies (IERIS) have organised a Research Seminar for Graduate Students and Faculty on the theme “International Visiting Scholar Research Seminar Series (2016).” The Seminar which was held on Tuesday, 26th April, 2016 was meant to expose participants to approaches that could be used to develop Universities in developing countries into high quality research intensive Universities with demonstrable impact.  

FUSSAG UEW ORGANISES ELECTION FOR 2016/17 ACADEMIC YEAR

The Federations of Universities Senior Staff Associations of Ghana (FUSSAG) UEW Local held its elections on Wednesday 27th April, 2016. The election which happened to be the second one to be organised since FUSSAG became a Union was carried out to elect new set of executives to handle the affairs of the Association. Per the Constitution of the Association, the Tenure of Office for the elected officers is for a period of four (4) years.

UEW HOLDS 20TH CONGREGATION APRIL SESSION

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has held its 20th Congregation ceremony (April session) at the Jophus Anamuah Conference Centre on Winneba campus from April 15 to 16, 2016. The next ceremony would take place in Kumasi from April 22-23, 2016.

UEW LAUNCHES RESEARCH AND SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS

The University of Education, Winneba launched two Policy Manuals at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre on 13th April, 2016. The ceremony brought together staff, students, corporate organisations and major stakeholders of education. The Chairman for the occasion, Prof. Jophus Anamuah-Mensah said education is the bedrock of every society and it is the most effective weapon to effect change in society. He added that the kinds of education that challenges the status quo and seeks an improvement in a society or the way things are done are of much importance.

PROPOSAL WRITING COMMENCES FOR T’TEL PROJECT

The University of Education, Winneba signed a Memorandum of Understanding with fifteen (15) Colleges of Education to commence a proposal writing phase of the T’TEL Project from April 4-11, 2016. The signing of the MOU was to concretize the initial interest expressed by the Colleges of Education in working with the University on the Project.

UEW SIGNS MOU WITH FLEET TECHNOLOGIES

The University of Education, Winneba signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Fleet Technologies at the Vice-Chancellor’s Office on Wednesday 6th April, 2016 to assist in the automation of verification of students results from West African Examination Council (WAEC).

VICE-CHANCELLOR CALLS ON IT- CONSORTIUM TO UP THEIR GAME

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof Mawutor Avoke has called on IT-Consortium, Service providers of the Online Students Information System (OSIS) to step up their game to ensure uninterrupted service to staff and students. The Vice-Chancellor made this observation at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Education, Winneba and IT-Consortium on Wednesday 6th April, 2016.

DEPARTMENT OF ART EDUCATION HONOURS FORMER VICE-CHANCELLOR, PROF. AKWASI ASABERE AMEYAW

A ceremony to honour the former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba, Prof. Akwasi Asabere Ameyaw was held at the Department of Art Education on Tuesday 5th April, 2016.  In her opening remarks, the Dean of the School of Creative Arts, Prof. Mary Dzansi Mcpalm indicated that the presentation was informed by the fact that Prof. Akwasi Asabere Ameyaw had supported the Department greatly during his tenure of office as Vice-Chancellor of UEW and in view of that Artist were not only expressive in words but in their works, hence the presentations.
