Radio Windy Bay 98.3MHz

Radio Windy Bay of University of Education, Winneba was started by the Students Representative Council in Winneba in the then Kotoka Annex (KTF 18) i.e. in a student room in 1994. The official commissioning was done by the first Principal on June 18, 1994.  It was handed over in 1998 by the student leadership to the University Management. The primary reason for the handing-over was financial, but the readiness of the University Management to take over was for academic, training and publicity reasons. The University subsequently relocated, re-equipped and staffed the station.

The station is currently located at the South Campus in the main administration block, at the ground floor.

The University of Education, Winneba has been using radio for teaching some selected courses since 1998. Some courses taught currently by radio are Communication Skills, Psychology and Education, and African and Liberal studies. Currently three modes of radio lecture delivery are used in the University.

Besides, the radio station is used for support services regarding teaching and learning activities on the campuses of the University: announcement of lecture time changes, registration of courses, quizzes, announcements, other extra-curricular activities i.e. student debates, campus file, campus life, and counseling.

Also the radio station trains students who show interest in broadcast journalism to acquire basic skills and knowledge in radio.
